Luke had 2 podiums in the Pro Light class both are from Bark River.
Luke was the 2009 TORC's Rookie of the Year in the Sporty 2 class.
About 2 and half years ago Luke began working with his father Ricky Johnson, who had been working with The Army and NAVY SEALS for about 10 years. Luke and Ricky work as a team teaching a basic motto course to the soldiers. Luke’s favorite part of his job is training the soldiers how to drive side by sides, which gives the soldiers first hand experience of how capable the vehicles really are.
When Luke began working with his father he would set up different drills for Ricky to do in the motto course. After a short amount of time Luke began to take a more active role in the instructing part of the job. About 6 months into his job is was clear that Luke added a lot of knowledge to the training; therefore he started to work full time with his father instructing the soldiers.
Luke trains the soldiers in the side by sides vehicles, which is an area of expertise for Luke due to the fact he had raced them for 3 years. This gave Luke the opportunity to teach something he was slightly more knowledgeable then his father Ricky. Luke feels very honored to take an active roll in the training sessions. It's meant a lot to Luke knowing that the skills he himself have mastered is pass on to American soldiers.
