The winner of the Traxxas PRO Light Cup will pocket $15,000 cash. Second place will receive $3,000 and third place will win $1,000. The remaining drivers in fourth through tenth place will each receive $250. The total purse is $20,750. The inaugural Traxxas PRO Light Cup debuts October 16, 2011. In addition to the cash payout, the winner of the Traxxas PRO Light Cup will be presented with the cup itself, a traveling trophy that will be awarded to the winning driver each year. The winner will also receive a permanent trophy to add to his display case.
Mike Jenkins, owner and President of Traxxas said "The PRO Light class is where the PRO-2 and PRO-4 drivers of tomorrow are being made. The spec V8 power makes it affordable to race and keeps the competition tight for an exciting show for the fans. We have supported the class for the past three years with additional Traxxas contingency dollars that brought the total season purse to $200,000. The Traxxas PRO Light Cup will add to the prestige and recognition the class deserves, and of course the chance to race for a $15,000 podium for the win. Fans can expect to see some incredible action on the track."
Entry fee for the Traxxas PRO Light Cup is $250, and drivers must compete in Rounds 13 and 14 of Traxxas PRO Light at TORC Antelope Valley to be eligible for the race. Qualifying order will be determined by a special Sunday morning qualifying session with an inversion. There will be no mid-race caution, with heads-up flag-to-flag racing all the way to the finish. Traxxas series contingency decals must be correctly positioned and clearly visible to win the cash. The Traxxas PRO Light Cup will be administered by USAC. For additional information, contact USAC.
