USAC Appoints Randy Hembrey TORC Series Competition Director

Randy Hembrey brings more than 30 years of experience in the racing industry to his new post as Director of Competition for  The Off-Road Championship (TORC) series. The 46 year old from Cary, Ill. officially begins his duties starting February 1st as part of an expanded effort from the United States Auto Club to strengthen its growing TORC business unit.

  

 Hembrey's experience in technical development, track safety, racing operations and series management spans a wide range of motorsports which will serve him well in his new assignment as TORC enters its third season of operation under the United States Auto Club sanction.

  

In the past six years he has been General Manager of of the SCCA Pro Racing Trans Am Series since 2009 and the Chief Steward and Competition Director for Formula Drift since 2005.

  

 

Randy's broad range of motorsports involvement includes the chief of flagging and communication for the Chicago Region of the SCCA for the past three decades. Between 1995 and 1999 he worked in race operations for the Canadian and US Formula One Grand Prix events.

  

An accomplished operations specialist in the racing industry, his creative, versatile approach to the sport has him excited to join the TORC Series in 2012.
