Crandon To Be Featured In Two-Hour NBC Special
Posted on Saturday, June 16, 2012
Indianapolis, IN. (June 15, 2012) – Fans of American short course off-road racing just got some HUGE news when it was announced that the Traxxas TORC Series, presented by AMSOIL’s Crandon International Off-Road Raceway races over Labor Day Weekend will be broadcast in a two-hour special on NBC as part of the Red Bull Signature Series.
Airing at 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, December 29th on NBC, the Red Bull Signature Series will showcase Traxxas TORC PRO class action, including the PRO 2, PRO 4 and Cup truck races – all produced by the award-winning Red Bull Media House.
“This is huge news for the TORC Series and fans of short course off-road racing in general,” said Kevin Miller, President of USAC/TORC. “Red Bull’s partnering with TORC and backing this major two-hour program that showcases TORC’s premier PRO class races at the country’s No. 1 short course off-road racing venue – Crandon – will deliver the best of what the sport of short course off-road racing has to mass audience never before reached in the history of TORC.”
Excitement abounds at Crandon where last year – for the first time in the storied history of the pioneer northern Wisconsin short course off-road track – the 100 miles per hour barrier was shattered by not one, but three racers in two classes (PRO 4 & PRO 2) as both track records fell at the Labor Day Weekend race.
“The speeds at Crandon are off the hook … definitely the fastest track we race all year on the TORC Series,” said defending TORC PRO 2 champ Bryce Menzies (Red Bull/Ram/Mopar/KMC Wheels), who broke the PRO 2 lap record at Crandon last year. “We’ve worked with Red Bull Media House in the past in Baja, and the result of their efforts was stunning – easily the most accurate representation of a driver’s experience at Baja that I’ve ever seen captured on cameras. Short course off-road fans can expect the same from Red Bull at Crandon, which’ll make for one heck of a TV program on NBC!”
In addition to the highest speeds witnessed in American short course off-road racing, the 2012 Crandon Cup will feature a new set of ‘Big Air’ tabletop jumps in full view of the massive crowd assembled on Crandon’s hillside, along with the new vistas enjoyed by the 1,000-seat grandstand section built into Crandon’s infield by turn one.
“All-in-all the Labor Day weekend races are the jewel of the Traxxas TORC Series. And to have Red Bull Media House document it in all its glory will a fantastic way to highlight the 2012 season on NBC this December,” added Miller.
