BARK RIVER, Mich. (Aug. 10, 2012) – Qualifying for Saturday’s Bark River Raceway round of the 2012 Traxxas TORC Series, presented by AMSOIL, took place in Michigan’s picturesque Upper Peninsula today with PRO 4x4 driver Ricky Johnson (Red Bull/Ram/Mopar/KMC Wheels) clocking the fastest – and only sub-1:20 time – out of all classes with a blistering 1:19.333.

Giving chase in the TORC PRO 4 class were Johnson’s worthy adversaries, including Scott Douglas (AMSOIL/Borla Exhaust/BFG) in 2nd with a time of 1:20.752 and Johnny Greaves (Monster Energy/Toyota/Maxxis) in 3rd at 1:21.140. Rounding out the top five PRO 4 qualifiers at Bark River were Adrian Cenni (Real Tree/4Wheel Parts/Maxxis) in 4th and Mark Jenkins (Traxxas/AMSOIL/BFG) in 5th.

In the two-wheel drive TORC PRO 2 division Ram/Mopar’s Rob MacCachren picked up right where he left off in the previous round in Chicago, topping 2nd place Chad Hord (BOSS Snowplows/Nissan/AMSOIL) by less than a half second, 1:21.358 to 1:21.714. Third-fasted in the PRO 2 class’ Bark River qualifying was defending class champ Bryce Menzies (Red Bull/Ram/Mopar/KMC Wheels), who was also in the 1:21s (1:21.918). Jeff Kincaid (Traxxas/AMSOIL/BFG) and Mike Jenkins (Traxxas/AMSOIL/BFG) rounded out the top five in 4th and 5th, respectively.

The TORC PRO Light division continues to be thisclose as you could throw a blanket over the top three guys – 1st-place qualifier CJ Greaves (Monster Energy/Toyota/Maxxis), 2nd-place Brad Lovell (AMSOIL/Torchmate/Nissan/BFG) and 3rd place Keegan Kincaid (Traxxas/AMSOIL/BFG) all put their equally-powered trucks in the 1:27 lap time range. Andrew Caddell (Traxxas/AMSOIL/BFG) and Luke Johnson (Traxxas/AMSOIL/BFG) rounded out the top five in PRO Light.

The TORC PRO Super Buggy class saw veteran John Frana (Frana Group/RCV Performance/FK Bearings) just nick class points leader Mitchell DeJong (Red Bull/Traxxas/BFG) for the top spot, 1:30.864 to 1:30.932. The third through sixth-place Super Buggy qualifiers were three seconds back of Frana and DeJong.

Action gets underway on Saturday at Bark River at 9 a.m. (practice) with opening ceremonies beginning at 10:50 a.m. Ticket information is available at Bark River’s website – www.barkriveroffroad.com
