RACE RECAP: Perris, California - Rounds 3 and 4

Crandon, WI (June 3, 2009)-Perris Auto Speedway was the host to rounds three and four of the 2009 Traxxas TORC Truck Series presented by AMSOIL. The top drivers were all in attendance and the heated rivalries continued picking up where they left off in Texas.

Friday evening, the PRO Light class took to the track with over eighteen truck entries. In a race with plenty of high powered banging and rubbing, Jeff Kincaid emerged as the winner. Kyle Leduc (the Oakley Bomb Run Winner for the fastest lap time) followed close behind taking second. An accident left Chad Hord with a flat tire in the first lap; Hord took to the pits and despite the incident rounded out the podium in third.

The AMSOIL PRO2WD action saw Jeremy McGrath taking an early lead before slipping back to an 8th place finish. The PRO2WD class featured twelve starters, but Red Bull driver Ricky Johnson came out on top. Johnson also took the Oakley Bomb Run Award for the fastest lap time. Rockstar drivers Rob MacCachren and Todd LeDuc finished second and third, respectively.

Coming off of a disappointing run in Texas, Johnny Greaves kicked off his weekend the right way by taking home the win in the Kumho Tires PRO 4x4 class. AMSOIL’s Scott Douglas finished second, while Kyle LeDuc, who earlier in the night took a second in the PRO Light class, finished third. Monster Energy driver Rick Huseman did not podium, but took his third Oakley Bomb of the season.

On Saturday, the PRO Light class saw some stiff competition and familiar winners. Chad Hord took first, followed by Kyle LeDuc, who swept the second place for the weekend and took home the Oakley Bomb, with Casey Currie finishing off the top three with his second podium of the season.

Kumho PRO 2WD racer Ricky Johnson swept the weekend with a first place finish and his second Oakley Bomb. Fellow racer and Seven-time Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath took second place, and an ecstatic Dan Vanden Heuvel, Sr. finished in the third spot.

Riddled with accidents, the Kumho PRO 4x4 race left only Rick Huseman, Johnny Greaves, and Scott Douglas in the hunt for the win. After a long battle, Rick Huseman took the win and the Oakley Bomb, his fourth Bomb of the season. Greaves scored a podium finish in second place, with Douglas finishing behind him again in third.

The next stop on the 2009 TORC race schedule is Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in Crandon, Wisconsin for rounds five and six. The action will take place over two days, June 20 and 21, 2009.
