USAC Tech Notes: 2010 Competition Modifications - Approved PRO LIGHT Engines

United States Auto ClubCorona, CA (December 15, 2009)-The United States Auto Club (USAC) announced today a series of rule modifications throughout their racing series for 2010 competition, many which are targeted at addressing rising costs impacting our competitors. USAC is the official sanctioning organization governing non-wing sprint car and midget racing throughout the United States, as well as The Off Road Championship (TORC), the premier short course off road truck series, which debuted in 2009.

Beginning with competition in 2010, a new limited and sealed V-8 engine program will be allowed in competition in the PRO Light class. Using proven and tested formulas found in other racing series, TORC will introduce the use of V8 engines from General Motors, Ford, Mopar and Toyota as listed below. Transmission, Exhaust and Carburetor specifications will be forwarded immediately upon testing and validation. For 2010 competition, the use of a V8 sealed motor as listed below will include a weight variance, which will be announced after final testing and validation. Engines must have factory seal in place and unmodified. Any repairs must be completed by an authorized and certified repair center for resealing.

Please contact Jason Smith at Jason@usacracing.com with any questions.

"The new PRO Light rules will create a class that has great performance and will be much less expensive to campaign. It is our intention to make short course off road racing more competitive and more affordable to encourage participation in the future," stated Ricky Johnson of TORC.
