Come the first of November, every off road race team that wants to race with the best of the best, will have their plans set in stone and will now be getting down to the little details for racing one of the biggest races of the year. Racers from 35 states and over 10 countries are expected to make the long trek down to Baja Mexico to take part in the 44th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 Desert Race.

The SCORE Baja 1000 will be taking place Friday November 18th and the Las Vegas based team of Menzies Motorsports will not only be racing to win, but they will also be racing for over 13 hours straight to try and claim the SCORE Championship. Driver Bryce Menzies started off the 2011 Desert Racing season claiming his first ever win as he came out on top after the two day race in the Laughlin, NV desert and from there Bryce and the Menzies Motorsportshave dominated this season. Claiming a 6th place finish for the SCORE San Felipe 250, another win for the Baja 500 and a solid 3rd in the first SCORE Challenge of Champions. All of these top finishes have helped keep Bryce in the points lead for the Championship. However going into the final race of the season its time to put it all on the line. With only 6 points splitting the race for the championship, another Las Vegas local, Rob MacCachren will also be fighting to claim his 3rd win of the year and the 2011 SCORE Championship Title.

With months of prepping going into this race, the #70 Menzies/Red Bull Trophy Truck will take to the starting line at 11:31am chasing the dust of just 3 other Trophy Trucks and surging forward through the day and into the night all while 30 other Trophy Trucks chase him down. Over 690 miles of desert terrain will take Bryce and Co-Driver Pete Mortensen from the heart of Ensenada, Mexico through twisting small town roads, over summits, speeding through the extremely fast Laguna Salada dry lakebed and right into the infamous San Felipe washes. After battling the San Felipe 250 course for the last time this year, the #70 truck will start making its way back to the Pacific side of Baja. The familiar terrain will now look like an entire new racecourse as the sun sets and darkness falls upon the Motorcycles, trucks and buggies.

In the dark of night Bryce and Pete will continue to tackle the silent and cold Baja desert, focusing on one thing, making it to the finish. While the truck continues the race, there will be over 10 Menzies Motorsports Chase Trucks that will be following them along the way making sure they are supplied with fresh BFGoodrich tires, VP Fuel to keep the truck going, bright Baja Designs lights and most importantly food and water to keep the guys pushing through the night. " This is the biggest race of the year" Said driver Bryce Menzies, " We want to make sure we make the truck last all the way to the finish and hopefully we can come out with a win and the Championship."

With prerunning already underway, the official events will start on Wednesday the 16th and will continue till Sunday morning when results are in, and awards are presented.  Make sure to follow the Menzies crew on Facebook and Twitter to catch photos and updates of the festivities, tech and all the race day action.
